It's pretty rare that I stray from full coverage foundations. But I have to admit, sometimes I do crave a base on the lighter side that's more suitable for everyday, like a tinted moisturizer; during the warmer months for a weightless feel, and in the winter season for much-needed additional moisture when dry skin seems to be inevitable.
Recently, I was introduced to No7's City Light Tinted Moisturizer and it's been making quite the rounds in my makeup routine. This tinted moisturizer is just what I needed in my makeup bag. It's been especially great for those days when I don't want to fuss too much with my makeup, and am aiming for more of a natural look.
A little info on the No7 City Light Tinted Moisturizer...
- Contains a patented antioxidant complex that helps boost skin's natural defenses against environmental aggressors (like pollution)
- Packed with skin-benefiting ingredients
- Contains an SPF of 15
- Diffuses light and enhances skin's radiance
- Hydrating
- Provides sheer, skin perfecting coverage
- Available in three shades; Fair, Medium, Medium/Dark
One of the things I like about the No7 City Light Tinted Moisturizer is how moistuizing it feels on. I can totally forgo my usual moisturizer since this offers enough hydration for my skin. Texture-wise, this tinted moisturizer has a light and creamy consistency that applies and blends like a dream on the skin. Speaking of application, I like to apply this tinted moisturizer with my MAC 188 small duo-fibre brush for a seamless finish-and because I find that the brush absorbs less of the product as opposed to a beauty sponge or a dense kabuki brush.
As I anticipated, the coverage is on the sheer side but I find that the color payoff is sufficient for evening out my skin tone, and lightly blurring little imperfections; which in my case are old acne scars and dark spots. The end result is beautiful, radiant and healthy looking skin-my skin, but better.
Swatches From L-R: Fair, Medium, Medium/Dark
The No7 City Light Tinted Moisturizer is available in three color selections that were made to suit everyone since they span true skin color-Fair, Medium, and Medium/Dark. Initially, I thought I could get away with the medium shade, but it ended up oxidizing on me-keep that in mind when choosing a color. Fair is actually the better shade choice for me. I figured it would be a little too pale for me, but the color somehow conforms to my actual skin tone (I am a MAC NC25, for reference). I don't know how, but it's pretty amazing.
Like most of the tinted moisturizers I have tried in the past, the lasting-power isn't any different. I have combination skin (oily t-zone, dry everywhere else) and it's not until the 3-4 hour mark that I start to notice some fading taking place and some extra shine peeking through my oily areas. But, it's nothing a quick dusting of setting powder can't fix though.
Overall
The No7 City Light Tinted Moisturizer is one of the better tinted moisturizers I have tried in terms of coverage and finish. I think dry skin types are going to appreciate this tinted moisturizer more, since it provides skin suppleness and a nice dose of hydration. This tinted moisturizer is also a good option for those with minimal skin concerns that are just looking to even out their skin.
