I hope you are all having a lovely day! As you all may have noticed, the warm weather has finally arrived. For me, when the weather gets warmer, I prefer foundations that feel lightweight on my face. Usually, I tend to stay away from liquid foundations on those days where it's super hot and humid. If I wear liquid foundations on days like that, it will literally start melting off my face, and it is such an uncomfortable feeling to have to endure.
In comes mineral foundations come to my rescue. I know that there are many people who actually prefer mineral foundations for the warmer months because, it feels good on the skin-almost as if you have nothing on your face, and it's basically foolproof when it comes to the application. For a few summers now, I have always relied on Bare Minerals foundation ($25.00) by Bare Escentuals. I think this foundation is one of the most popular mineral kinds out there, and I also know that it can either be a hit or miss among many. Luckily for me, it was love at first application.

Bare Minerals Foundation
Bare Minerals Foundation in Golden Medium
I initially tried Bare Minerals a few years ago when I had purchased the ever-so popular, Get Started kit ($60.00). Ever since, I have purchased the mineral foundation because it really impressed me. I used to think that mineral foundations wouldn't provide much coverage. But boy, was I wrong.
Formula:
I had never tried mineral foundations prior to Bare Minerals. I actually tended to stay away from any powdery-looking foundations because I was scared that it would end up looking cakey on, seeing as my skin is pretty dry most of the time. But, luckily that was definitely not the case with Bare Minerals. The loose minerals are textured smoothly, it feels creamy to the touch-not rough at all, and it applies beautifully as well. I do make sure to moisturizer my skin very well with moisturizer in order to ensure the smoothest application possible. I love the fact that this foundation contains an SPF of 15, and is all natural, being that it's formulated without parabens, synthetic dyes, fragrances, petro-chemicals, and phthalates. I love all natural foundations that don't contain harmful chemicals that harm our skin. I think that they are perfect for sensitive and acne-prone skin types, like myself. I also want to mention that this foundation does contain very fine, luminizing particles-not shimmery looking at all. Some may fear that this will make their face look like a shimmer overload, but this was not the case with my experience. I actually love it because it gets rid of that dull and lifeless look, and helps give my face that healthy looking glow that I long for. It's perfection.
Application:
My perfect Bare Minerals foundation shade is Golden Medium. My skin is light, but I have yellow undertones as well, and Golden Medium contains the perfect amount of yellow that matches my light skin perfectly. I like to pre-conceal my acne scars with the Bare Escentuals Maximum Coverage Concealer Brush ($20.00). That brush is really dense and it works wonders for concealing troubled areas. After pre-concealing, I then take some MAC Fix + ($19.00) and spritz it twice on my Everyday Minerals Flat Top Brush. Lastly, I shake out some of the foundation on the lid and swirl the foundation brush in there, making sure to get rid of the excess. Then I start buffing it into my skin in circular motions until I get the coverage that I desire. You would be surprised at how a little truly goes a long way. It does not matter if you are going for a light. medium, or more fuller coverage. You can achieve them all!
To basically sum everything up...
Pros:
1. Feels lightweight on my face
2. Can achieve light-full coverage, as desired
3. Little goes a long way and a container lasts a pretty long time, justifying the $25 price tag
4. I have not experienced any skin irritation or breakouts while using Bare Minerals
5. Evens out my skin tone, looks very natural on, and gives my face a natural looking healthy glow to it
6. Works great to cover my imperfections-acne scars, blemishes, etc.
7. There are a variety of shades available which makes it easy for everybody to find their perfect shade match
8. Does not melt off my face on hot days
9. Foundation is a perfect match for me
Cons:
1. The container can get pretty messy because of the sifter holes that makes the product spill out easily. But I see on the Sephora website that the sifter jars now have a twist lock to them which is great! Gotta love product packaging improvements.
2. Does not last too long on the oily areas on my face-forehead and nose. But this is definitely not a deal breaker for me, seeing as it's nothing a little MAC Blot Powder can't fix.
Conclusion:
Overall, I LOVE Bare Minerals, and it's definitely one of my go-to foundations when all else fails. I think this foundation is a life saver in the warmer months. If you are looking for a lightweight, all natural mineral foundation, I definitely recommend looking into Bare Minerals. And if you do, I really hope you guys love it, just as much as I do.
