I had such great luck with that Color Icon Trio, that I decided to try my luck with another one. I decided to go with I'm Getting Sunburned ($2.99). But to my surprise, this trio left me a tad bit disappointed.

Color Breakdown
The browbone color is a frosty/shimmered medium pink which to me, appears as if it contains some blue undertones in it. This color goes on really nice, and smooth. I prefer to use it as an all over wash of color on my lids, or as an inner lid color. This color is pretty frosty/shimmery for a browbone color. I think it would have been better if the browbone color was neutral toned, and more matte-like. Just my preference.
The Crease color is a gorgeous deep brown with bronze shimmers. The bronze shimmers aren't really prominent once applied. This color is super pigmented, and a little, tiny bit surely goes a long way. This eyeshadow color is probably one of the softest shadows I have come across. Even if I just simply tap on the color with my eyeshadow brush, I see a bit of crumbling start to happen, not to mention the fall out I endure while applying this color.
Lastly, the eyelid color is a pretty golden bronze, frost color. It is nicely pigmented and goes on really smooth. I love colors like this for the coming warmer months.
Each of the three colors are really easy to blend, and apply easily-with the exception of the fallout caused by the dark crease color. Here is my problem with this trio. When I apply all of these colors together and blend them out, each of the colors sort of gets lost. In other words, they wash out. The strong pigmentation that was there when first applied, is gone. In less than an hour all that is left on my lids are soft washes of shimmered colors. I tried with just the bronze eyelid color on my lids, and the same thing happened! After awhile, the bronze pigmentation color just wasn't strong anymore.
Honestly, I don't know why this has been happening to me with this eyeshadow palette. I have very oily lids, but I make sure to prime them always with my Urban Decay Primer Potion. I really like all of the colors in the trio, but sadly, this is one I would not repurchase for the simple fact that the pigmentation quickly disappears from my lids and leaves me with a soft wash of color.
Here is a look I did with this eyeshadow trio:
Browbone color-inner third of lid
Eyelid color-middle of the lid
Crease color-outer V
It was a bit difficult for me to take a decent picture of this eye look I had done. In a lot of the takes, the shadows were pretty washed out and it was hard to see the colors. I would recommend this Color Icon Trio for those who enjoy shimmered/frosty hints of color on their lids. Sadly, this trio just didn't work out for me.
What do you think of the Wet n' Wild I'm Getting Sunburned Color Icon Trio? Is this problem I am going through just happening to me? Or have any of you experienced the same thing with this trio? Please let me know in the comments!

Great swatches! Love the look you did, it's gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Hun! Are you a fan of these color icon trios from Wet n' Wild as well?
ReplyDeleteWow! Wasn't expecting the colors to be so pigmented.
ReplyDeleteHave you tried using a base? Maybe that'll help.
The shadows are very pigmented indeed. I applied Urban decay primer potion on my lids to use as a base for the shadows, but the pigmentation would still wear off after awhile :( But the colors are pretty, though. I'm still looking forward to trying other color icon trios.
ReplyDeleteI love this look. I found your website yesterday and i'm really happy I did.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Alyssa for your kind words! :)
